Steamboat, how do we love you? Let us count the ways. There are 24 of them this morning, with more on the way. That's right. Steamboat is waking up with 24 inches of new snow today, with another 8 possible today and then a foot expected Wednesday to Thursday.

Vail is going to enjoy a powder day today, with 8 inches of new snow and still some more on the way there as well.

I am updating this according to what was posted in my On The Snow app, and hope to give you live reports from Steamboat by Wednesday afternoon.

Who has the best snow in Colorado right now? Across the board, the snow amounts have not been great, with one exception--Steamboat. They are reporting a 53 inch base, putting them at the top in all Colorado resorts.

They have more than 95% percent of their terrain open. Compare that to 61% at Breckenridge, 57% at Keystone, and 30% at Loveland.

Yes, the snow gods are smiling on Ski Town, USA as they have so often in the past. Steamboat's snow totals and amount of open terrain have made the conditions so much better than the other resorts right now that it is barely a comparison.

Steamboat received 100 inches of snow in December for one of their best starts to any season. I was there on December 28 and 29, and it was incredible. The mountain was skiing like late season conditions. Storm after storm hit Steamboat in December, with more predicted to ring in the New Year, so if you are hitting the mountains any time soon and are wondering who has the snow, it is Steamboat.
