What’s Open and Closed on Columbus Day in Colorado
Columbus Day is just a few days away, which means while some of us head into work there are many federal closures throughout the state of Colorado.
While these closures always stay the same each Columbus Day holiday, we tend to forget what we can and can't do on this day. So here is the list of what you can expect when you wake up on Monday, and what you won't be able to do.
Keep in mind that this is a list of what we were able to obtain. If a business you usually stop at isn't listed below, make sure you call ahead to see what their hours are.
- All federal government offices, including the postal service, will not be open on Monday
- All major local school districts will have school in session that day, with the exception of the Estes Park School District who will not have students in class on Columbus Day. ***Make sure to check your school calendar to see the status of your school***
- Many banks decide to close on Columbus Day, while others are open throughout the weekend. Wells Fargo Bank and Chase are two banks that will have hours available for customers on Monday.
- For the state of Colorado, Columbus Day is considered a legal holiday. But that doesn't mean that local city offices will be closed on that day. Columbus Day is NOT considered a "designated fixed holiday" in Larimer County. However, in Weld County, there are no jury trials scheduled on Columbus Day Monday.
In most cases, the holiday doesn't disturb local retail businesses and many celebrate the day with sales and discounts. Please check with local retailers throughout the region to see what their exact schedule is for the day.
