Many cities in Colorado have infrastructure that is older, and sometimes breaks down. It's not often, however, you see an "Old Faithful"-like burst coming from the street.

Not only were people in the neighborhood to go without water, but debris from the asphalt that broke through came raining down on their homes and cars.

What was a nice day in Colorado, turned into a deluge of damage, in a matter of minutes.

You have to feel for these folks that will having to start dealing with their insurers, when it comes to filing claims about a "water main break." Car windows were smashed, basements were flooded, a man's prized car is now probably "totaled."

Imagine, trying to get back into the swing of things after the long Labor Day holiday weekend, and bam... chaos.  One witness, according to KRDO, thought it was a hailstorm, until he went outside to look.

Crews got to the scene and turned the water off while they worked on the situation, so that was one problem. The other problems came from what happened before the water could be turned off.

One man's basement flooded after the water came in and shorted the outlet that is sump-pump was plugged into. A glass front door was shattered. Most heartbreaking of all, is probably one man's car being in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

The man has owned his 1987 Camaro IROC since it was brand new. Not many of us can say we've owned any car that long; now this man may have to let it go after the "geyser" sprayed rocks that broke the back window you kow how insurance company's can be.

Take a look at KRDO's story on the break:
