Fort Collins firefighters are giving local healthcare workers a 'sunset standing ovation' — from a safe social distance, of course.

If you pass a hospital at sunset, flashing lights from fire trucks may catch your eye, but there's no emergency. It's actually a 'thank you' from first responders to the healthcare professionals who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Poudre Fire Authority posted the Instagram video below, taken outside of the Banner emergency room on Harmony Road.

CBS4 in Denver also shared that the Fort Collins Police joined firefighters in gathering outside of Poudre Valley Hospital to applaud the staff.

Fortunately, in a recent press conference, the Executive Director of Denver Public Health and Environment said that COVID-19 cases are beginning to 'level off,' and hospitals are not at capacity.
