According to The Denver Channel and the National Weather Service, there have been several big snowstorms in Colorado, remember these three 'recent' ones? I know I do (well, two of them at least). Growing up near Denver, we never really got 'snow days,' so the few we had were pretty memorable.

On October 24 and 25, 1997, a storm dumped nearly 22 inches over the Denver Metro/Front Range region, which is pretty early considering we typically view Halloween as a marker for when we may see our 'first snow.' This was the seventh-worst snowstorm in Colorado's history.

Then, there are the late-in-the-season Colorado spring storms, and those ones can get nasty. On March 17, 2003, Colorado got hit with a blizzard that lasted through March 19. I was in sixth grade and got to miss nearly a week of school. I remember building forts and sledding, and I also remember the roof of the local roller rink and the 7-Eleven down the street from us collapsing under the 31.8 inches of snow that storm dumped. This was the second worst in Colorado history, according to The Denver Channel.

On December 20, 2006, we weren't dreaming of a white Christmas as much as we were dreaming of a Christmas with power. I was pretty upset that this storm hit the day that my winter break started, so I didn't get to miss any school, but I remember having my neighborhood friends over, sitting by the fire in our living room 'til our electricity came back on. This still makes it into the top 10, as the ninth-worst snowstorm in Colorado history.
