Reuters' third annual "Top 100" is out now, and University of Colorado has cracked the top 30 in terms of 'innovation' (ranking #29, up from 45 last year.)  The study defines this as

a list that identifies and ranks the educational institutions doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies and power new markets and industries.

CU has filed 294 patents in the past year, of which 28.6 percent were granted, making for a greater-than-average score in terms of overall commercial impact.  More about that here.

This is out of 600 colleges included in the research.  The "Colorado University System" includes campuses in Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, and Aurora, as did this study.
