These Northern Colorado Bands Could Open for Bon Jovi
Local bands wanted -- waaanted, dead or alive -- by Bon Jovi (though preferably alive, we assume). From Grayson Erhard to Patti Fiasco, In The Whale and Shatterproof -- check out the Northern Colorado artists who have their shot at opening for Bon Jovi in Denver.
Bon Jovi announced that they'd be holding the Opening Act Contest to find an opener for each city on their upcoming tour. They've asked bands across the nation to submit an 'audition video,' and one winning act will be chosen for each show.
There are currently 88 artists in the running for the Denver tour stop on March 14 at the Pepsi Center, and we recognize a handful of names from Northern Colorado.
Grayson Erhard
Grayson Erhard is a pretty well-known name around here. Fun fact: I met him at a house party when I went to Colorado State back in 2011 (...the only one I went to, I think). Though he's since left Fort Collins, he played numerous shows with NoCo bands Aspen Hourglass and Pandas & People, and performed solo at Taste of Fort Collins 2015.
Oh, also he's the guy in this viral video with Stevie Wonder. So... there's that.
In The Whale
In The Whale may be Denverites now (that is, when they actually aren't on the road), but they have roots up north in Greeley. They also recorded the Quicksand EP at Fort Collins' Blasting Room.
Shatterproof
The Fort Collins-based alt rock band, you know, the one with a violin. They've played Denver's Warped Tour and tons of other shows around Fort Collins and Denver, and who knows? Maybe they'll soon add 'shared the stage with Bon Jovi' to their bio.
Patti Fiasco
The gritty, country-infused rock band calls both Wyoming and Colorado 'home,' but now lists Fort Collins as its hometown. They've already shared the stage with Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and we can't help but think Patti Fiasco might be a pretty great fit for opening for Bon Jovi's show.
There are several other bands in the competition from Denver, including One Flew West, Viretta and more. See all the entries via Live Nation.
