The Queen Of Greeley: 70 Year Resident Turns 105 Years Young
You probably didn't even know there was an official Queen of Greeley, did you? You probably thought all of that royalty stuff was saved for the British folks. Well, I'm here to tell you, that is not the case.
There is a young lady that has called Greeley home for 70 years and that lady just turned 105 years young.
Her name is Mercedes Morrison and she is a gem.
I've officially designated her "Queen of Greeley" because when you've called a place home for as long as she has and you are simply as awesome as she is, you earn that title.
And I think it's safe to say she's more than earned it.
According to the Greeley Tribune, Mercedes moved to Greeley back in 1951 with her husband Gaylord as he used to work at Colorado State College, now known as the University of Northern Colorado.
I can't imagine the amount of stuff she has experienced and seen in her time and just think about how much Greeley - and all of Northern Colorado - has changed over the past decade or two. Imagine how much change she has seen in Northern Colorado since 1951. Incredible.
I would love to sit down and just listen to her speak and hear her stories.
Mercedes is a huge Denver Broncos fan and she's been described as still sharp and full of life by her daughter, according to the Greeley Tribune.
So I just wanted to take a second to recognize our very own "Queen of Greeley" and wish her a very special, belated happy birthday as her actual birthday was on January 16th.
Happy Celebrating Queen Mercedes, you are a gem! Here's to many more.
