There's always something a little fun about checking out a new restaurant in Colorado, even if it is part of chain. Fort Collins became the first Northern Colorado city have Shake Shack in May of 2026.

Where is the First Shake Shack in Northern Colorado?

It was in late April of 2026, that we let you know that the Fort Collins Shake Shack would be opening in May near where Sears used to be at Foothills. The 3,800 square-foot restaurant opened its doors on May 27, 2026. The easier way to explain where it is, is to say it's just north of Longhorn Steakhouse.

This is a good location for a Shake Shack, as there's a lot of shopping activity in the area, and not many "burger joints;" though Shake Shack does have more than burgers (like hot dogs.) Once you know where it is at Foothills, it's easy to get in and out of, and get back on your way.

Being it was going to be my first time at any Shake Shack, I asked the internet what I should get, and was instructed to get the Shackburger, a side of cheesy crinkly fries and the Black & White Shake. So, I ventured in, was directed to one of the ordering kiosks and that's what I ordered; I did like how I could customize the burger ("no tomato, add sliced onion) very easily.

Don't Plan on Discussing Your Tax Return While You Eat

I found the indoor seating area to be a little cramped; I couldn't see having any important private conversations. But there is more seating to the north side and plenty of outdoor spaces available.
