Sad Weekend: Jeep Hits Pedestrians, Kills One in Windsor
An otherwise beautiful Saturday - right here in our own backyard - ended tragically when a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with three pedestrians in the 9600 block of Eastman Park Drive in Windsor.
According to a statement from the Windsor Police Department, at approximately 6:38 PM on April 2, the Jeep was headed westbound on Eastman Park Drive when it struck the pedestrians, sadly killing one of them. The deceased, whose name had not been released pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It's not yet been made clear what happened or where exactly the accident took place, whether in the middle of the roadway or in a pedestrian area. Three pedestrians were struck in the one vehicle accident, but the other two were not transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Windsor Police Department says the driver stayed on the scene of the accident and cooperated with the police investigation, which is ongoing.
The road was closed for four hours Saturday evening, but has since reopened.
If anyone has any information that may assist in investigating the incident, Windsor Police Department requests they contact Sergeant Aaron McConnaughey at 970-674-6400.
