It's almost a right of summer, enjoying Greeley's hug 4th of July Parade. Generations of families gather to salute Greeley and America, on a summer day.

Having worked here at the radio station for many years, I've been a part of many of our parade entries. Being IN the parade is a lot of work and a lot of fun; plus, you don't have to hunt down and secure a spot to WATCH the parade.

It's very worth the effort, however. Especially with this 2021 parade, after more than a year of the pandemic and things not happening, like the Greeley Stampeded. I would expect thousands and thousands of people to be Downtown for this.

I wonder what percentage of folks that attend the parade continues on to the Greeley Stampede? It must be a pretty high number. This is a big day, indeed, for Greeley.

So, it's best to have a plan for attending the parade, and the City of Greeley has put out some advice and rules for this year's parade and saving your spot.

YOU CAN ONLY START TO SAVE A SPOT AFTER 4P ON JULY 2

That's two days before the parade, which sounds very, very early to reserve a spot, but people will be there at 4:02 p.m, to do so.

IF YOU BLOCK FOOT TRAFFIC, YOUR ITEMS WILL BE REMOVED

Don't use any tape, string attached to stakes, tarps, blankets, or plastics. on the grass, sidewalks, or other hard surfaces. These things cause damage to the grass and hard surfaces, are tripping hazards and impede the park staff from continuing with maintenance.

PLEASE, NO PAINT

Do not paint on the grass or hard surfaces.

CHALK IS O.K.

Chalk can be dealt with. As long as it's not used on the grassy areas.

Enjoy the parade, it's a great way to embrace being back out with the community.

If you have any questions about getting your spot saved for the parade you can call the City of Greeley Parks Division at 970-350-9390.
