There must be thousands and thousands of Pokémon players in Colorado, because the amount of Pokémon vending machines we have is almost staggering.

Pokémon Vending Machines Are Numerous in Colorado

Pokémon has been a craze in America since about 1998. Over 25 years later, in 2025, they introduced a new way to get cards: Pokémon Vending Machines.

I honestly don't know a whole lot about Pokémon, but finding out how many of the machines are already in the state, people must still love it. It looks like Pokémon lovers who live on the Western Slope are out of luck for these machines though; for now, anyways.

I think back to my youth and being a Dungeons & Dragons player; I wonder what kind of things they would have put into a D&D vending machine. Dice? Icons? I can see my allowance going down the drain; I got lucky.

The owners of Pokémon, Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures, must have made a sweet deal with King Soopers and Safeway, because those are the stores in Colorado that have these machines. Again, not every King Sooper and Safeway in Colorado, but a lot of them.

Colorado Has Over 100 Pokémon Vending Machines

You can see the insane amount of locations (130+) that have a machine at the Pokémon site; Denver and Colorado Springs have the most. A couple of "remote" locations stand out: Conifer and Woodland Park. For Northern Colorado there are about 10, from Longmont to Fort Collins; Loveland and Estes Park do not have any.

I went to find the one at the Safeway on 35th and 10th in Greeley. There it was, in between a "claw" game and a Colorado Lottery vending machine. The iconic Pokémon symbol, the red over white circle, is hard to miss.

I didn't do a lot of browsing, but I saw items priced from about $4 up to $161. Also, most of the items were "Sold Out;" I hear this happens often, and when they're restocked, they have people waiting in line.
