Outstanding Meteor Shower to Bring 90 Meteors an Hour to Colorado Skies December 14

Get set to bundle up and step outside to see one of the biggest meteor showers of the year, this week. The upcoming snow doesn't mean you can't catch this one.

A meteor shower is one of the most magical things to witness; there are six major meteor events each year. They conclude with this week's Geminid shower, in which to see "space rocks" falling into Earth's atmosphere and burning up.

Make plans to get up early on Wednesday, December 14, to celebrate the wonder of the world. The upcoming storm will be waning late Tuesday, with conditions easing for seeing the Geminid meteor shower. You should be able to see some a couple before and after the 14th, too.

According to the Steamboat Pilot, upwards of 90 meteors an hours will be shooting across Colorado skies with this last meteor show of 2022, originating from the Gemini constellation, the Geminid shower.

The Steamboat Pilot says that the the "best" meteor shower will be peaking just before dawn on the 14th, when temperatures will be in the upper teens. The Steamboat Pilot says not to worry about cloud cover, but some of the smallest meteors probably won't be able to be seen, due to the moon. They're saying to put the moon behind you as you look up to the skies and take in the amazing show.
