Natural Grocers Coming to Funky Corner in Downtown Loveland
Downtown Loveland is getting set to have something at one of its corners, where no business has been for years: A Natural Grocers.
Downtown Loveland's Safeway probably isn't shaking in its boots at the word of a Natural Grocers on its way, even though it will be very close. Folks that work at First National Bank in Downtown, however, may see it as a blessing.
The City of Loveland announced that Natural Grocers, with four locations currently around the Fort Collins/Boulder area are coming to the funky little corner of North Lincoln and 8th Street.
It's been a very long time since anything operated at this corner. Google maps goes back to 2007, when there was 'Knives and Weapons' storefront. The building was interesting; it had this storefront facing Lincoln, with the back also having (at least one time) two smaller shops. The building looked like it had stood at that corner for decades. The building is gone now.
According to the city, Natural Grocers is putting over $5 million into a new store at this corner, with hopes of opening before the end of 2022.
Technically, this will make for the third grocery store in Downtown, as the city likes to point out that the Downtown District extends from the north, where Highway 287 splits into Lincoln and Cleveland, to the south where the two streets come back together right by the Barnes Softball Complex.

Many will probably say, "Loveland is becoming Boulder," with Sprouts and Natural Grocers in town (and so close to each other) but not another major grocery store (Safeway, King Soopers) where the city could use one.
