Mythbuster Adam Savage Recreates the hedge Maze from ‘The Shining’

The iconic maze from ‘The Shining.” The majesty, the creepiness. That hedge maze. The Overlook Maze at The Overlook Hotel. It’s no wonder that Adam Savage, one of the Mythbusters, would want to recreate it. Who knows- maybe at some point when you visit Estes Park, you’ll be able to stop at The Stanley Hotel and see his creation!

One of the most well-known thriller/horror movies of all time; based on a Colorado treasure- Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’. Jack Nicholson’s character John, chasing his wife and son around that maze- ‘The Overlook Maze’- with an axe.. classic! Knowing that Stephen King wrote the story after having stayed at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, is pretty neat to any Coloradoan.

Adam Savage from The Mythbusters has always had a fascination with the movie as well, and with that giant outdoor maze. Specifically, with that smaller version of The Overlook maze that was inside the Colorado Room at the hotel. Turns out, that the little maze from the movie no longer exists. So Adam, took it upon himself to recreate that maze! How cool would it be to go to The Stanley Hotel- and inside, find Adam’s creation!

Adam took on the project as a podcaster chronicled the month-long venture.
