A mom from Milliken died over this past weekend in a motorcycle crash during a memorial ride for her son, who also lost his life in a motorcycle crash last month.

According to 9 News, Diane Everett, 51, lost control of the 2012 Honda CBR motorcycle she was riding on as part of a group memorial ride just southwest of Loveland on Larimer County Road 12.

Joshua Everett and his sister Amanda Everett were taking part in the ride, which drew a crowd of more than 80 riders, when they saw motorcyclists in front of them giving the signal to slow down. Once stopped, friends told them not to go any closer.

As the two were getting closer to the crash scene, they could see the bike parts and knew what had happened. Tragically, they lost two family members to motorcycle accidents in just over a month.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Everett family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Something we all need to keep in mind as well, especially as the weather warms up and we get into prime motorcycle riding season: please keep an eye out for motorcycles and be a little extra diligent on the roads.

May is actually Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and whether you're a rider or not, there are some important things to remember all year...but especially during these prime riding months.
