This is the heartwarming story about some cops and some kids. It starts in the most wholesome way possible: a couple of kids rode their scooter to the library to check out some books.

I know... kids taking themselves to the library in an age when everything is digital in the palm of your hand and video games and social media dominate everything you see. It's like straight out of our childhood. It just feels right.

The two siblings rode their scooters from home after receiving them for Christmas. The problem begins while they're in the library looking at books. They left the scooters in the front lobby of the library, only to discover them missing when they returned.

The police were called to the scene, and the Loveland officers did something that is never expected, but seems to happy a lot these days (thankfully) when law enforcement steps up and goes well above and beyond their call to duty. They pooled some money together and purchased the kids new scooters and helmets.

But the story doesn't just stop there.

You'd think for such a small crime, simply buying a couple new scooters would suggest the case was closed and nobody would waste their time pursuing it. But not for the Loveland Police Department.

They obtained a warrant for video footage at the library and managed to identify the person who took the original scooters from the library.

They paid the man a visit. Issued a summons for theft and recovered the stolen scooters, promptly delivering them back to the kids who they were stolen from. Now they have their original scooters, two new scooters, and a great story to tell their friends.

In this edition of a little local feel good news, the Loveland Police Department not only rallied together to do something nice for some of the citizens they protect, but took it a step further and solved a crime that many people would consider too small to dedicate their time to. Kudos for a job well done - twice!
