Loveland Server Gets $1,500 Tip From Annual Surprise Diners Event
The Christmas season is about giving; and in Loveland, a group of ladies in Northern Colorado have been taking that very seriously for over 10 years. It's fun for them to get together for a great meal, knowing that when the check comes, somebody is going to be very happy.

It has to be pretty amazing to be the recipient of the annual "Shock & Claus" tip when it happens to you. Servers work hard every day, and the holiday season can be very stressful; customers have a way of brining their frustrations over the holidays with them when they dine out. To have a large group come in, you probably get a little worried on how it's going to go.
On December 5, 2025, things could not have gone better for server Abraham, who works a the Doug's Diner off of 29th Street and Highway 287 in Loveland. 18 women gathered at a big table, had a great meal and were ready to drop the "Shock & Claus" on young Abraham. I'm betting that particular Friday won't be one he'll forget for many, many years.
How Does Loveland's 'Shock & Claus' Work?
All the ladies bring $100. Whatever money is left over after the bill has been covered, goes to the (hopefully) unsuspecting server for the table. With the 2025 event, the 18 ladies ran up a tab of only $300, and Abraham received the other $1,500. Over the 10+ years that "Shock & Claus" has been happening, they've probably surprised servers with a total of over over $15,000.

After the event happening for more than several years, it's hard for such a large group of ladies to gather at restaurant in Loveland during the holidays without raising "a little suspicion."
