Loveland Police Issue Alert About Sex Abuse Scam in Mail
Nobody in Colorado likes to be scammed, let alone by something that comes in the mail, but Lovelanders were being targeted in September of 2025.
Imagine grabbing your mail, then rifling through bills, credit card offers, maybe a birthday card, and finding an odd mailer. Also imagine inside that mailer you find graphic material and threats of blackmail; it can make your blood boil; even more so to think of someone falling for the scam.

It was in early September of 2025, that the Loveland Police Department became aware of a scam involving mailers that had graphic material involving child sex abuse and threats of blackmail if the receiver of the mailer didn't go to a certain website, call, or scan a QR code.
Personally, I have seen at least one person fall for such a con; it broke my heart hearing their tale of being on the phone with a stranger and that stranger giving them directions on getting several pre-paid cards and sending them off in the mail.
The thought of something "bad" getting out about my friend was too much for them to bare. The only bright side was that it only cost my friend a couple hundred dollars. That's what these criminals want: They want to scare you into turning over your hard-earned money; we all have to be aware that there are people out there whose only job is scamming.
