Longmont’s Old Chicago Closes, Could NoCo’s Rock Bottom Be Next?
The parent company of Old Chicago has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In addition to Old Chicago, they also operate Rock Bottom Brewery.
Things are not looking great for Old Chicago, as their parent company just closed a bunch of locations, including the one in Longmont.
The Times-Call reports that parent company CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries Group Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday, March 3, 2020.
Longmont is just the latest closing of an Old Chicago around Northern Colorado. The one in Downtown Fort Collins closed in 2018. Boulder's location (where Old Chicago began in 1976) closed in 2016.
The Greeley and Loveland locations remain open.
Also in Loveland is Rock Bottom Brewery, which CraftWorks also owns and operates. They just shut down the Rock Bottom in Westminster on March 1, 2020.
As a big fan of Rock Bottom, I'm hoping the company pulls through before they even think about closing the Loveland location.
