You have to give this kid credit- he wanted something and he worked his butt off to get it.  The thing is, now maybe YOU could be working for him- and he’s nine.

We’ve all had that scenario, where you’re a kid and you desperately want that new toy. Your parents say, ‘Sure.  Earn the money, and I’ll take you to the store to buy it!’ Thanks, Mom.   Grrr…  So, you open up a lemonade stand.  Later that afternoon, you have a whopping $7.  Guess you’ll settle for some candy and a soda.

Not this kid, Jack, in Boulder.  He wanted the big toy. Apparently LEGO has this – hold on to your hat- $400 Star Wars Death Star set.  $400! The boy’s parents aren’t fools, they didn’t rush out to pick up the set. They did the old ‘earn it’ lesson on him.

Inspired, he set out. His lemonade stand rocked! After 12 weeks of hanging out at the local farmer’s market, he brought in $900! After overhead costs!   He must have bought TWO LEGO sets with that kind of cash!  Or… not.

Now, with the help of his dad, he’s started a lemonade stand business. They franchise-out the naming rights of ‘Jacks Stands’, where kids and their parents sign up for spaces at farmer’s markets across the Boulder County area, and come run the stands-keeping the profits!   Shut. Up.  Really?

This is no Donald Trump. They even take care of everything- bringing out the stands, the lemonade, the sales tax figuring out, a cooler… The kids and parents just have to show up!

This kid is pretty great; even if he is a Star Wars fanatic- and not Star Trek.

Also-- a nice tie-in?  Paul Newman. Newman’s Own Lemonade is the product of choice for Jack.
