Major Road Through Loveland to Drop to One Lane for 3 Months

By 2030, folks who live and visit Loveland, Colorado, will look back at the mess of 2025-26 and hopefully giggle.

Infrastructure Improvements to Impede Traffic Through Loveland

Loveland's "4th Street Revitalization" project began in spring of 2025 and is expected to be complete by the summer of 2026. There is a lot of work to be done to make the city's vision a reality, including replacing old pipes under the street.

Lincoln Avenue Lane Closures to Add Stress to Summer Traffic in Town

Starting in early July, crews will need to close down one of the two-lanes of traffic on Lincoln Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. Thousands of vehicles travel from the south end of Loveland to the north, using Lincoln. This will not be fun.

They'll be alternating the closing of the west lane and the east lane, throughout the 12 weeks of waterline tie-in work at the intersection of 4th Street and Lincoln. I would expect that they'll have traffic "merging over" just passed 1st Street; but they may want us down to one lane before 1st.

No Left Onto 4th Street During This Portion of the Project

To make things even more frustrating, traffic won't be allowed to turn left onto 4th Street for these 12 weeks. Those wanting to park or access 4th, will need to approach off of Cleveland Avenue, instead.

I feel for the businesses on 4th Street, having to deal with all of this; which will probably happen on Cleveland, later in the project. They have to hope that when "it's all over," their storefronts will look out onto something wonderful.
