Fort Collins Police say an investigation of a school district paraprofessional who was accused of assaulting a disabled student has now turned up additional victims.

That's according to a post on the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page.

The original investigation started when officials with the Poudre School District contacted police with concerns about a paraprofessional who rides district school buses.

School district resource officers launched an investigation on the allegations.

According to the post, officers saw surveillance videos which showed the paraprofessional, Tyler Zanella, hitting the student on several occasions.

But according to the latest post, further investigation based  on surveillance video has turned up additional victims. A total of six disabled students were found to have been assaulted by Zanella according to the latest post.

According to the post:\

Detectives worked to notify the involved victim’s families of the incidents, and on May 30, 2023, met with the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office. The Larimer County District Attorney’s Office accepted and filed the following charges:
30 counts of 18-3-204 Assault in the Third-Degree At-Risk Person, a Class 6 Felony
30 counts of 18-6-401 Child Abuse, a Class 1 Misdemeanor
49 counts of 18-9-111 Harassment, a Class 1 Misdemeanor
19 counts of 18-6-401 Child Abuse (different section than the previous charges), a Class 2 Misdemeanor.\

May 24 Landspout Spirals Over Cheyenne

A landspout - a type of tornado that is "smaller and weaker than tornadoes produced by supercells" appeared within city limits on May 24, 2023, shocking residents. The spout was visible over Dell Range Blvd. In response to the spout, F.E. Warren Air Force Base issued a warning on the base urging occupants to seek shelter.
