A Previously Defunct Brand Will Be Getting New Life in Colorado

Brick-and-mortar stores are closing in our state at a rapid pace. Yes, they are closing around the country at a truly staggering rate, but in Colorado, they’re shutting their doors well above the national average. 

Recently, the closing brand Express just shuttered 100 locations, including three in Colorado.

However, a brick-and-mortar that many people believed was long gone actually will be making a grand return, albeit on a much smaller scale than in the past. 

Babies ‘R’ Us Will Be Returning to Colorado

As some may remember, Babies ‘R’ Us’ parent company, Toys ‘R’ Us, filed for bankruptcy back in 2017 and 2018. The former toy store giant’s Chapter 11 filing up over 30,000 people out of jobs in both chains.

However, Toys ‘R’ Us made a return in 2021, first serving as an online only store.

They have since released plans to open a possible 24 stores, with others being located on cruise ships and airports.

They did so without Babies ‘R’ Us, which left some people confused. 

However, it was announced that the brand will be making a resurgence, albeit in a much smaller form factor.

They will no longer be brick-and-mortar stores, but instead be sections within existing Kohl’s locations.

These are going to be small sections that will take up 750 to 2,500 square feet within the store, and will have all the usual baby products people would expect.

What Kohl’s Stores Will Have the Revitalized Babies ‘R’ Us Stores?

According to 9News, the following Kohl’s store will be hosting a new Babies ‘R’ Us sections:

• 3110 N. Powers Boulevard, Colorado Springs
• 12090 Colorado Boulevard, Thornton
• 11875 Sheridan Boulevard, Westminster

There has been no word on when these will open.
