Colorado’s Great Divide: Do We Want More Winter or is it Time for Spring?
With the first day of spring just around the corner, the age-old debate is reignited: are Coloradans eagerly anticipating the warmth and renewal of spring, or do they want to hold onto winter a little while longer?
We took to Facebook to hear directly from you, and the results were intriguing. While opinions were split, the majority seemed to lean towards wanting more winter. Perhaps it's the allure of one last ski trip or the charm of cozying up by the fireplace.
Does Colorado Want More Winter?
Most Colorado ski areas are open well into April, some into May, and at least one Colorado ski area plans to remain open into June 2024. Didn't it just snow on the Western Slope of Colorado a few days ago?
Well, looking at the forecast from the National Weather Service, that same region of Colorado can look forward to sunny skies and highs in the 60s by the March 9 weekend. Call it what you want, spring or winter, warmer temperatures are here.

Why Do Some Want More Winter in Colorado?
We decided to delve deeper into the winter psyche of Colorado residents. Real Research, an online survey app, conducted a comprehensive survey to uncover how people truly feel about the winter season. And the findings were nothing short of fascinating!
Did you know that nearly half of respondents (49.88%) declared snow and snowfall as their absolute favorite things about winter? It seems that despite the shivers and shoveling, there's something magical about Colorado snow.
Let's not forget about the holiday spirit! A whopping 50.71% of participants revealed that Christmas reigns supreme as their favorite holiday of the season.
It's Winter! Where Are We Going?
But where do Coloradans dream of escaping to during the winter months? According to the survey, 43.09% have their sights set on the bustling streets of New York City. From ice skating in Central Park to exploring the iconic holiday displays, the Big Apple seems to hold a special allure during the winter season.
So, as we eagerly await the arrival of spring, it's clear that winter still holds a special place in the hearts of many Coloradans.
