Colorado Has 2 New Speakeasys That Are Very Different
Ways of having fun in Colorado include seeking out interesting watering holes. A great "dive bar," a fun sports bar, a romantic spot, and unique speakeasys.
Speakeasys just have that feel of being a part of something that only a select few know about. In the end, however, the owners of speakeasys are hoping everyone will find them so that they stay open.
It's a tricky situation.
When you visit a speakeasy it can be hard to hide your eagerness about it: it's like finding a hidden treasure. Whether the bar has a "secret" entrance or not, the bar/restaurant's "vibe" is
"Good for you - you found us. Have fun."
There is a speakeasy in Las Vegas that I've visited; it's an Italian restaurant that you enter through a fake wall (with a pay phone on it) in the vestibule, after you speak to someone through a slit. I did not see that coming at all, even though I knew the vestibule was not the restaurant. Speakeasys can be fun, that way.

By the close of summer of 2024, Colorado had welcomed two new speakeasys to the roster. One in Denver, and the other in Downtown Loveland. Yes, they're both speakeasys, but no one would call them "twins," in any way.
Denver, Colorado Has a New '80's-Themed Speakeasy
To me, it sounds like a dream come true: A speakeasy that's celebrates all things '80's. And, of course, it's named after the DeLorean; it could not sound more fun.
I found out about The DeLorean from Westword, and was jealous that they got the inside scoop, but was excited, nonetheless. What looks like a non-descript door is the entrance to this speakeasy in south Denver, that fans of the '80's have to visit.
Just a few of The DeLorean's drinks:
- Weird Science - St. Germaine, Cucumber liquor, vodka, magic bubble
- Pretty in Pink - Jasmine & Rose gin, champagne, elderflower tonic
- Who Shot J.R.? - Buffalo Trace old fashioned
Downtown Loveland Has a New Speakeasy
Downtown Loveland's Sage Speakeasy & Lounge, Loveland's second speakeasy, opened in the early summer of 2024. This particular speakeasy is more about the ambience, than it is about secrets; there's no hidden door, no password to give.
Sage has a great vibe, with varied "lounge areas" depending upon how many you have in your party; maybe you'd like to sit near the baby grand? They have a great food menu, as well. It's a great spot for dates, a "girls night out," or a business meeting.
