A Fort Collins Classic Ice Cream Shop Joins Forces with Pizza Joint

When you think of all the businesses that have started in Colorado, the idea of two of those businesses joining forces seems unlikely. Two that both started in Fort Collins announced in 2026, that they would be "together."

How Long Has Walrus Ice Cream Been Around Fort Collins?

Walrus Ice Cream began back in 1987, on Mountain Avenue, and has been a Fort Collins favorite ever since. It was in 1999 that the original owner sold the shop to John and Lisa Paugh, to join the Peace Corp.

These days, it's Lisa Paugh as sole owner of the one shop, though they did give it go with a second shop in south Fort Collins for a bit. If you grew up in Fort Collins, you probably have had a part-time job at Walrus.

Krazy Karl's Pizza, named after one of the original founders, Karl Mobley, began at Campus West in Fort Collins in 2010, 22 years after Walrus began their journey. Karl Mobley passed in 2015, but Nate Haas continued with Krazy Karl's.

In 2016, they opened their location on Timberline, in 2021, they opened a location in Loveland, and in 2025, the original Krazy Karl's at Campus West closed and was combined into the Timberline spot. You can find my brother and I at the Timberline spot once a month.

Walrus Pints Now Available at Both Krazy Karl's

It was in early March of 2026, that both Krazy Karl's and Walrus were excited to announce that at both Krazy Karl's spots, you can buy pints of Walrus Ice Cream. They installed coolers of $9.99 pints at both pizza locations' "pick up" areas.

While you can find Walrus Ice Cream available at a lot of places across Northern Colorado, I'm not sure you'll find a cooler of them at every place; also, this is the first Loveland location to find any sort of Walrus Ice Cream.
