Buc-ee’s in Johnstown has been a huge hit since it opened in 2024 and a second Buc-ee’s location in Colorado has been rumoured for quite some time.
Why the Palmer Lake Buc-ee’s Was Delayed
Back in March, plans for a second location in Palmer Lake were revealed but halted due to the fact that the annexation application was withdrawn.

This was because a local group sued to stop a second Buc-ee’s location from being built. Some time has passed and we have a major update on the possible second Buc-ee’s to open up in Colorado.
Palmer Lake Officials Vote to Move Forward
According to the Colorado Sun, Palmer Lake officials voted 6-1 and gave the thumbs up for Buc-ee's to move forward with their planning. There were reportedly over 100 people inside while the vote happened and also protestors outside.
What’s Next: Public Meetings and Planning Commission Review
There will be additional public meetings to ensure that all voices, thoughts, and opinions are heard.

As of right now, the planning commission will take a look at zoning on June 18. This is a major step forward to build Colorado’s second Buc-ee’s. This location will be 74,000 square feet. This will be the same exact size as the Buc-ee’s in Johnstown.
Buc-ee’s South of Denver: One Step Closer
There still needs to be a final approval, but this is a major step to bringing Buc-ee’s south of Denver.
