New Resort in Southern Colorado is a Stargazing Retreat
Colorado's vibrant cultural scene and plethora of diverse landscapes makes it a popular destination for both outdoor adventures and relaxation-based vacations. But a new resort in the San Luis Valley offers a different kind of getaway experience, that focuses on the sky above.
Kosmos Stargazing Resort and Spa is a luxury resort located in a dark sky region, just 15 minutes away from the Great Sand Dunes national park. According to the resort's website, they are situated in a Bortle Class 2 Zone Dark Sky zone, which is ideal for stargazing, astrophotography, and immersive night-sky exploration
The one-of-a-kind resort in Mosca, Colorado features glamorous villas for guests to stay in on-site. Currently, there are two villa models: the Stargazing Villa and the Galaxy Villa. The Stargazing Villa is a 1200-square-foot space with uninterrupted views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. This model has the capacity to sleep a maximum of four guests, with a king-sized bed, or the option for a queen bed and two twin beds. The Galaxy Villa is a two-story structure with exclusive amenities such as a private sauna and jacuzzi. The bigger villa has the ability to sleep eight guests, with two king-sized beds and two queen-sized beds.
A full-size planetarium/observatory also provides 360-degree stargazing opportunities. Because the sky is so dark, visitors can even catch breathtaking sights of the Milky Way with the naked eye.
The resort's founder, Gamal Zalaquett, calls Kosmos a “celestial retreat like no other.” This is the perfect place for someone seeking solitude and an escape from the stressors of city life.
With luxury comes a price. The cost to stay at this brand new, immersive “astro-tourism” glamping resort ranges from $700 to $1,200 per night.
