I was raised with the saying "when you go somewhere, make sure to leave it how you found it". I was also told that if I could improve a place by a simple gesture to do it. Whenever I see some trash on the ground, I pick it up and throw it away.

Many of us in Colorado do the same. We take care of our public spaces. Unfortunately, one reservoir in Colorado is having a major problem with residents picking up after themselves. Technically, they are not picking up after their dogs.

I am not a dog owner, but many of my friends and family are dog owners. They always ensure that they have dog waste bags with them when they take their dog to public spaces. When they go to the bathroom they bag it and throw it immediately.

Is it really that hard to pick up after your dog? It is not.

The city of Longmont is urging residents to help and letting them know that the park may close on September 16 if the public does not take care of their dog poop problem.

Parks officials are asking users of the dog beach to assist with the clean-up effort. In addition to picking up their dog’s poop, they’re asking visitors to also pick up after other dogs, past and present. If this effort is successful, the closure can be avoided.

If you love this dog park you might want to some bags and lend a hand.
