High Winds and Warm Weather Raise Wildfire Concerns Across Colorado

Meteorologists are predicting that hurricane-force winds are returning to Colorado on Friday, December 19th. This could dramatically increase the chances of wildfires breaking out.

The National Weather Service is calling it a “particularly dangerous situation” for the Foothills and all of the nearby areas.

Hurricane-Force Winds Expected to Return to Colorado

Our partners at Denver 7 and the NWS are expecting the worst conditions to be located right along Highway 93. This will run from Jefferson County into Boulder County and then right along US-36 north of Boulder and eventually to the Larimer County line.

In Weld County, a Red Flag Warning is in effect through midnight on December 20th.

We should expect gusty winds, and low humidity near 12 percent.

Larimer County, is also seeing some intense weather.

The National Weather Service confirms that there is a High Wind Watch in this area for most of the day and a Red Flag Warning.

We will keep you updated as more information comes out regarding this weather event.
