Everyone has a favorite time of day and a preference for staying up late or waking up early. Some enjoy seeing the sunrise or getting up early before many businesses open and before others wake up, and are most productive in the morning. Others like to sleep in, do their best work at night, and function best as the sun goes down, staying up later than others. Sometimes it depends on your job, what you prefer, and other times it depends on what your body and mind best adjust to. When it comes to Colorado, is the state more full of early birds or night owls?

Waking up is beneficial, as it allows you to get many things done before others are awake and you get distracted by other tasks throughout the day. Staying up late can be nice; as others are sleeping, you can get things done that you didn't have time to do during the day. According to a recent study by coventrydirect.com, the state with the most early birds is Missouri, with Arizona having the second most, and Washington rounding out the top three. The state with the most night owls is surprisingly Montana, with Nebraska having the second most, and New York rounding out the top three. When it comes to Colorado, is the Centennial State home to mostly early birds or night owls?

According to the study, Colorado is the state with the 7th highest number of early birds. With many farmers calling Colorado home, and also many who enjoy hiking and being outdoors, it isn't surprising that so many people enjoy getting up early to get a head start. According to the study, 24% of people start their day before 6 AM, 28.9% start their day between 6 AM and 6:59 AM, 18.7% start their day between 7 AM and 7:59 AM, 10.9% start their day between 8 AM and 8:59 AM, and 17.6% start their day after 9 AM. The number one thing people enjoy about early mornings is drinking coffee and enjoying a quiet moment, which is what 62.4% say they like most; for night owls, 47% enjoy relaxing and unwinding, which is the number one thing night owls enjoy.
