Wyoming Bison Are Big, Bad And Fascinating To Watch

How much do you really know about the bison that you're traveling to see? You may be surprised to find out, they are big, wild and can ruin your day in a matter of seconds.
There aren't many places where bison roam in the wild. Yellowstone is the only place in the U.S. where the huge beasts have continuously roamed since pre-historic times.
You can spend hours, days and even weeks just watching the way they navigate across Wyoming. Every spring it's fun to see the new members of the herd and they way they all work together to try to protect them.
Yellowstone's Lamar Valley is one of those areas where you can see the strategy used by the herd to navigate through and move from area to area.
It doesn't really matter the time of day, there's always that possibility of getting stopped by a bison jam. Depending on how they're feeling, it could last for a few minutes or even a few hours if they're feeling really stubborn that particular day.
During the springtime, the herd is really protective of their young. So much so, you'd think they have a 'bison calf care class' to discuss the plan of action of moving from place to place.
That strategy is played out in the video taken by Yellowstone admirer Toby Tollefson.
This year has been busy already in the park and many news outlets, Yellowstone staff and National Parks crews have tried to reiterate the importance of wildlife safety.
