Huge Airbus A380 Makes Unscheduled Stop at DIA
This had to be something to see! Large and in charge, it's hard to imagine how the worlds largest passenger plane looks, sounds coming in for a landing! On Tuesday, evening, (November 5, 2018) DIA got to make use of gates that they don't normally use- those suited for just such a landing. They opened up their 16,000-foot runway- long enough to accommodate an Airbus A380.
In their tweet last night, DIA said it was the first time that that has happened, and it was due to a 'medical issue' on the aircraft. The plane wasn't there very long- it sounds like it left just a little while after landing.
In the end, I guess it's good to get some practice using that runway and those gates, while they wait for one of the airlines that fly A380s to use DIA as a stop!
