‘How I Met Your Dad’ Taps Meg Ryan to Voice Future Sally
The once and future Sally of the 'How I Met Your Mother' spinoff, 'How I Met Your Dad,' has at last been found. Where 'Full House' sitcom icon Bob Saget curiously provided the narrating voice of 'HIMYM''s future Ted, Meg Ryan has been selected to provide the voice of future Sally, as portrayed in the storyline's present by indie darling Greta Gerwig.
Deadline broke the news of Ryan's quiet casting, confirming that, like Saget, Ryan's voice will only be heard as Sally tells her future children life stories about how she met their father. 'How I Met Your Dad' will follow a slightly different path than the mother series, as well, given that Sally begins the pilot separated from her husband ('Workaholics' star Anders Holm), beginning a new journey toward the titular 'Dad.'
We'll go out on a limb and guess [SPOILER] this one won't end up dead six years before the finale.
Apart from Gerwig, Andrew Santino as Sally's gay brother Danny, Drew Tarver’s role as his husband Todd, and ‘Masters of Sex‘ vet Nicholas D’Agosto as potential love interest Frank, 'How I Met Your Dad' will see Tiya Sircar replace 'Smash' star Krysta Rodriguez in the role of Sally's BFF Juliet. A series order seems likely by this point, while ‘Up All Night’ creator Emily Spivey will head up the show creatively with ‘HIMYM’ producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, and Gerwig takes on writing duties, as well.
We'll reserve judgement on the spinoff and its cast until we see the actual pilot, but what do you think? Does Meg Ryan seem like a solid fit for 'How I Met Your Dad''s future Sally?
