For the second time in two years, the City of Greeley Culture, Parks and Recreation Department is a finalist for the class III category (population 75,001-150,000) of the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management.

According to a city of Greeley press release, the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA) in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and their long time sponsor Musco Lighting, LLC, announced the finalists for each competing category on May 15.

A panel of five park and recreation professionals reviews and judges all application materials for communities that "demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition", according to a city of Greeley press release.

The Grand Plaque recipients will be announced in Baltimore, Maryland on Sept. 24-26, 2019.
