Greeley Dairy Plant Closing For Good

Employees of Meadow Gold Dairy in Greeley are bracing for layoffs with nearly 100 job cuts announced, according to Biz West.

Meadow Gold Dairy is owned by the largest dairy producer in America, Dean Foods. Some employees will be transferred to other Dean Foods plants and all staff will receive severance.

Layoffs come in response to a poor Interstate Milk Shippers inspection which concluded that major, and expensive, water waste treatment upgrades are needed.

The plant produces fluid milk products, cottage cheese, ice cream mix, juices and water, according to Lincoln Journal Star.
