Greeley Has a ‘Cool’ Bar in an Unexpected Spot in Downtown

There are plenty of places in Greeley to grab a bite and a drink; but there's one spot in Downtown that could be one of Northern Colorado's most unique spots. Maybe it's time to get your gang together, check the calendars, and plan an outing to check it out.

This place could be a great "First Date'" adventure, a place to grab a drink after work, a place to meet for a quick drink before meeting friends for a Sunday dinner in Downtown. A place to add "something different" to your weekly activities in Greeley. I'm the kind of person that really enjoys hitting up a spot that's fun and out of the ordinary; this bar fits that bill.

The Greeley Ice Haus opened in 2005 in Downtown Greeley, just east of the 9th Street Plaza along 8th Avenue. For more than 20 years, offering adult and youth hockey, figure skating, open skating, broomball, and sled hockey. For a couple of years, the Colorado Grit called the Ice Haus home, but that ended in 2025. As of the fall of 2025, you can find the Greeley Bears Youth Hockey, The Mountain View Skating Club, the RCS Hockey Club, and the Greeley Freeze call the Ice Haus their home ice.

The Ice Haus converted what was once a meeting area upstairs, into a bar: "The Upstairs Bar" (I enjoy a place whose named isn't complicated.) It's unclear as to how long the bar has been around, but it sounds, to me, like a fun place to check out. Sure, most arenas have a bar, but those are only open for special events (for the most part;) here's one that's open to the public on a regular basis.

• Thursdays: 7:15 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
• Sundays: 4:30 p.m. - 10:15 p.m.
