With all the dog lovers that Colorado has, you would think that there would be more dog parks that what we have. Greeley will be putting in a new one, and they are looking for feedback, including naming the park.

West Greeley Slated for New Park in 2027

Near the Owl Ridge neighborhood of west Greeley, (west of 71st Street, north of Highway 34) the City will be installing a 27-acre park. It will have trails, a playground and 5-7 acres set aside for being a dog park.

This will be a perfect addition to that area of Greeley, as the aren't many parks nearby; and it will be a great place to relax at, when visiting friends/family at Greeley's UCHealth. Even when don't have a dog, just seeing dogs at play can bring a lot of joy to just about anyone.

Features of the Upcoming Dog Park:

  • Separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, each with secure double-gated entries and 4-foot fencing for safety.
  • Benches, shade trees, or structures for relief from the sun.
  • Dog-friendly water fountains to keep pets hydrated.
  • Convenient parking.
  • Clear signage.
  • Proper drainage to prevent muddy conditions.
  • ADA-compliant walking paths.

Public Encouraged to Name New Dog Park

Through April 3. 2026, the public can submit what the would like the dog park to be named. You can also upload a picture of your pooch, just for fun. There were a lot of great pics and name suggestions by the end of March; for example:

  • "Muttropolis."
  • "Central Bark."
  • "Canine Cove."
  • "Zoomies Field."

It'll be very interesting to see which name they choose.
