Greeley Cinco de Mayo Announces 2017 Honorary Parade Grand Marshal

The Cinco de Mayo Greeley festival committee announces Charles Archibeque as the festival parade’s Honorary Grand Marshal for 2017. Archibeque died in March of 2017.

Charlie’s recent passing does not diminish the respect and admiration he earned from all residents for his contributions and caring personality.  His selection for recognition in this year’s parade and at the festival reflect his many years of service to his country and his city, from his military service to his multiple terms as a Greeley City Council member and as a beloved family man.

Everyone is invited to the ceremony at 10:45 a.m.

Summary of Mr. Archibeque’s contributions:

• Military service – US Navy/Korean War
• City employee – Building Inspections
• Business owner – Mirasol Restaurant
• Council member representing Ward I – 16 years
• Community/neighborhood advocate
• Fair/affordable housing advocate
• CDOT Commissioner

Event Schedule:

• 7:00 a.m. – Fiesta 5K - registration
• 8:15 a.m. – Fiesta 5K - run starts at Island Grove Park
• 9:30 a.m. – Parade - 14th Avenue (from 8th Street to Island Grove Park)
• 10:45 a.m. – Charlie Archibeque Grand Marshal Recognition – Island Grove Park Event Center
• 11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. – Children’s activities, music, dance, food/beverage, car show, soccer tournament, and exhibitor/vendor booths

Festival admission is FREE.
