Seven buildings in the future capitol of "North Colorado" are receiving some energy-efficient improvements that should save the city a ton of money in utility bills.

The $1.6 million project includes energy-smart improvements to lighting, ventilation, pool pumps and other equipment this year, with the city set to repay that cost through savings on utility bills. The city will pay Xcel the same amount of money each year as it does now, but a portion of its utility bills will go toward paying for the improvements.

Here are the buildings that get the upgrades:

  • the Union Colony Civic Center,
  • the Recreation Center,
  • the Family FunPlex,
  • the police headquarters and secondary headquarters,
  • the Greeley Senior Center, and
  • the Lincoln Park annex building.

When it comes to things like this, I feel like change is good!
