Former Medical Company Property in Windsor Sells For $15 Million to Become AI Data Center
When a company is wanting to come to Colorado, and pays over $10 million more for a property that was just purchased earlier that year, you know they mean business. With there being less and less Kodak-related work happening in Windsor, this new company may be the town's "next big thing."
in February of 2025, well-known Northern Colorado developer Martin Lind purchased the former Carestream Health property for $3.5 million. In December of 2025, he sold that property to GlobalAI for $15.6 million. That is a lot of money; that definitely infers "deep pockets" putting some roots down in the area.

GlobaAI, which, according to BizWest, designs and operates high-performance, liquid-cooled data centers purpose-built for advanced AI workloads. To achieve that high-performance, it does take a lot of water and electricity. Some are excited about new technology coming to the area, others are concerned about the demands on the local infrastructure such a facility might bring.
Liquid-Cooled Data Centers Need Lots of Electricity and Water
Those on "pro" side of the move note that Kodak and Carestream put a lot into the electrical infrastructure of the property, so that won't be too much of a concern. It's not clear on how much of an impact the data center will have on Windsor, but in 2022 NPR noted that the average liquid-cooled data center uses 300,000 gallons per day.

Either Windsor or Greeley Will Own the Property at Some Point
While the property's address is 2000 Howard Smith Avenue, Windsor, it sits in unincorporated Weld County. GlobalAI will get to choose being in Greeley or Windsor due to annexation opportunities; both towns would be looking to take advantage of the tax dollars the high-tech company would be providing.
