Tuesday morning, April 9th, Fort Collins Police responded to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Shields and Plum Streets.

Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that a 2012 Toyota sedan had been traveling south on Shields Street approaching Plum Street where a City of Fort Collins Transfort bus was crossing.

As the bus entered the intersection, the Toyota sedan t-boned the driver side of the Transfort bus. After colliding with the bus, the sedan then collided with a 2005 GMC box truck which was stopped in the westbound left turn lane of Plum Street.

The driver of the Toyota sedan suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver of the GMC box truck and everyone on the Transfort bus were not injured.

The driver of the Toyota sedan was issued a summons for Careless Driving. Police do not believe alcohol or speed contributed to the collision.

The east side of Plum Street was closed at the intersection for about 4 hours while investigators processed the scene.
