Over 15 years ago, the world was introduced to a young boy from Fort Collins, Jake Lloyd. Jake had gotten the role of the young Darth Vader in the upcoming re-launch of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise- He would star as Anakin Skywalker!

Jake was busted over the weekend for taking his car on a high-speed escape from the Rebel Alliance – the police. Fame- It comes with a price. Get the story-- and my connection to Jake!

It’s hard for anyone to say how THEY’D turn out, if they were given the role of a lifetime with so much life left to live afterwards. Jake Lloyd, who as a little kid lived in Fort Collins, was only eight years old when he landed the role as Anakin Skywalker. 18 years later, he’s fleeing from the cops at 100 mph, crashing into trees and spending a least one night in jail. What the what?

He was in South Carolina when police tried to pull him over (for what, the reports don’t mention.) He took off at speeds upwards of 100 mph, crashing through a fence and into the woods where he crashed his car. Jake did not post bail; so as far as we know right now, he remains in jail.

The report says he gave his name as being Jake Broadbent. Weird. Jake was arrested for evading police officers, reckless driving and driving without a license.

I can tell you this tidbit. Years ago, I worked at NCR in Fort Collins. When I first started there, I was told that I was doing the job that Bill Lloyd had been doing. 'Ya, he was just doing this until they move to California- his stepson's a kid-actor.’ True story! I almost knew a guy whose stepson would go on to play Anakin Skywalker! Yes, you can touch me, it’s O.K.
