A Fort Collins nonprofit and three other Northern Colorado businesses have been named recipients of the 2020 Better Business Bureau Torch Awards for Ethics.

The three business winners for 2020 are Elder Construction in Windsor, Exodus Moving & Storage in Johnstown and Neenan Archistruction in Fort Collins.

The big winner in the nonprofit category is The Matthews House located in Fort Collins. The  organization worked with more than 3,000 youth and families in crisis every year.

Winners are chosen by a panel of previous Torch Award winners and BBB board members. The nominated businesses are also assessed based on the BBB's six TRUST! Principles.

  • Transformation at the Top: Leadership Commitment to Ethical Practices.

  • Reinforce and Build: Communication of Ethical Practices.

  • Unite the Team: Organizational Commitment to Ethical Practice.

  • Steer Performance: Organizational Commitment to Performance Management Practices.

  • Treasure People: Organizational Commitment to Ethical Human Resource Practices.

  • Enthusiastically Reinvest: Organizational Commitment to the Community.

Do you know a business that has high standards, is community oriented and has great leadership? Hurry and get them nominated now because the process of choosing the winners takes about a year. As soon as the awards are given out the business nominations start pouring in from employees, colleagues and customers for the next year.

According to NorthFortyNews.com this is what happens after a business is nominated and vetted by the BBB to make sure they are in good standing.

They are invited to compete for the award by working with Ethics Scholar Interns from Colorado State University, University of Northern Colorado or the University of Wyoming to prepare the application for judging.

Huge congratulations to all our winners this year and good luck to all of next years nominees!
