The owners of Fish restaurant in Fort Collins send out an email and Facebook post informing the community about their upcoming closing and opening of a new restaurant in the space.

For nearly 19 years, Fish has provided fresh, sustainably-sourced seafood in at 150 W. Oak St. in Fort Collins.

In the email, the owners said "Fish is no longer sustainable, and we have decided to close our doors for the last time on Saturday, April 18 and transform into a new restaurant built on the same character and foundation..."

One of the biggest reasons for the change is poorly managed and over-fished fisheries. This leads to higher prices, lower profits and a strain on the business they've never had before. They go on to say that running a restaurant is not sustainable for their family anymore as it requires an endless amount of attention.

Owner Kat Reeves is a teacher by trade and wants to go back into the world of teaching. Co-owner Mike Reeves is doing volunteer work with the Scouts BSA and the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team.

They've partnered up with former Fish executive chef Ryan Damasky who is the current Chef at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. The new restaurant will be called Bistro Nautile and serve French-influenced cuisine that will "accessible to a variety of palates and budgets."

The restaurant will be housed in the same building as Fish and expected to be up and running by Friday, May 1.
