Fort Collins, CSU Pick E-Scooter Brand
A total of 500 Bird brand E-Scooters will be heading to the streets of Fort Collins later this month.
The City of Fort Collins and Colorado State University announced Bird as their E-Scooter partner for a year pilot program in a press release on Wednesday (Oct. 9).
Bird operates shared electric scooters in over 100 cities across the world.
The E-Scooters will be available to students, residents and visitors through the Bird app.
Before the launch, an E-Scooter safety education campaign will be launched to familiarize the community with the rules of the road and best practices for responsible use of shared e-scooters.
The Bird app requires riders to complete a safety training before they ride.
"We are very excited about the partnership with Bird that ensures each E-Scooter is operated and parked safely and in accordance with City rules through technological innovation, education, encouragement and enforcement,” said Fort Collins mayor Wade Troxell in the press release.
“This one-year pilot also provides a new sustainable multi-modal transportation option; connects with Transfort to encourage transit use; and provides additional opportunities for low-income residents to participate.”
