A former grocery store in Loveland looks to become something completely different. It will be good to see the old Albertsons finally have something inside it, besides being one of Colorado's Spirit Halloween spots.

What's the History of That 'Old Blue Roof Building' in Loveland, Colorado?

The currently empty building at 1325 East Eisenhower Boulevard in Loveland first opened as an ALCO, which was like a Kmart or Walmart, back in the day.

In 1990 it became an County Market grocery store which was open for 10 years before Albertsons took it over in 2000. Albertsons shut down that store in 2006, and its been (mostly) a "big empty" since then.

Having grown up in Loveland and currently living in Downtown Loveland, I've driven passed that old building tens of thousands of times, like a lot of other Lovelanders. It's hard to see it and not wonder "What the heck are they going to do with it?"

Albertsons was paying a whopping $200,000 a year to lease the empty building, their way of keeping the competition from using the building. They did also keep up on the painting of the roof, which was nice. That lease expired in 2025, and it looks like a new deal was made sometime after that.

Former Albertsons Building in Loveland to Become Auto Parts Warehouse?

Word has it, that the 50,000 square-foot building will become a warehouse/distribution center for O'Reilly Auto Parts. There is currently one in Aurora; Having one in Northern Colorado is sure to help the company supply their O'Reilly stores in the Fort Collins area.
