Bee Movie, the 2007 DreamWorks animated comedy starring Jerry Seinfeld as am anthropomorphic bee named Barry B. Benson who may or may not be in love with a human woman, is not a good movie. Even Seinfeld himself has admitted as much. But THE KIDS THESE DAYS. There is no bad movie they will not fully embrace and turn into a thing. Such is the case with Bee Movie which, over the past few months, has taken on a new life on Tumblr. Back in November, someone posted the entire script of the film on Facebook in text form, and it was shared over 4,000 times. This peculiar obsession has been taken to a new level as now a young girl had the entire text from the Bee Movie script printed on a t-shirt and her Tumblr photo has over 100,000 notes.

Having trouble wrapping your head around this? Even Madison, the 17-year-old who posted the photo to her personal Tumblr is at a loss, telling Buzzfeed, “I have no idea why something so silly blew up the way it did, but I guess that’s obscure internet memes for you.” Madison didn’t actually make the shirt herself, someone gifted it to her, but now that it’s a hot fashion item (??), you can purchase one for yourself.

Whether this started on 4chan or Tumblr is unclear, but at this point it’s far from obscure. It mostly seems to have started as a joke to annoy people on social media, who then have to scroll the entire way through something as dumb as the Bee Movie script. It may also be a way for young people to make older people feel really old.

Sometimes kids do dumb things and share dumb jokes and it’s just funny gosh because and it only seems stupid and pointless to people who aren’t in on the joke (the joke would appear to be that it’s exactly stupid and pointless). Whatever it is, while it may seem new to us fogeys, it’s not necessarily new. A Twitter bot was tweeting the Bee Movie script, line-by-line, and completed on October 10, 2014. Last month, a tweet with the full text of the script had over 18,000 RTs. It’s just now crossing into the mainstream, so the next time you’re at a family dinner, your mom can ask you about it, which automatically makes it completely lame and the cool kids move on to making fun of Shark Tale.

If you must, and now you must, you can read the entire Bee Movie script here.
