FoCo Cafe gets Robbed-Community Responds

The non-profit restaurant, Foco Cafe, depends on that donation box as they have no set prices for their food and service but they instead ask customers to pay what they can and are able or volunteer for their meal. So, when the donation box was stolen, you can image the impact that would have on their business. As FoCo Cafe executive director Mallory Andrews said in a Facebook post, "this is devastating to our ability to carry out our mission".

According to the Coloradoan, the staff noticed the donation box was missing around 1pm Tuesday and was reported to Fort Collins police. Andrews told the Coloradoan that there was an estimated $100 in the box. After word of the theft got out, the restaurant saw an enormous response from either fans of the restaurant or the community or both as they received about $500 in donations within the first 10 hours after the theft.

FoCo Cafe relies on donations and volunteer help to keep their service going as they have served more than 75-thousand meals since opening their doors in 2014. They will be hosting their annual "bike-in music concert" fundraiser on August 5th.
